About Us

AmandaAmanda Glaubach, of New York City, is a senior at University of Wisconsin majoring in Sociology and minoring in Jewish Studies. Before coming to Madison Amanda attended Jewish day school in NYC and was surrounded by kosher restaurants. After spending three years in a city that lacks a kosher butcher she has finally learned how to cope. Amanda spent last semester in Rome and ate her way through Italy and most of Europe! Now she’s studying hard to get into law school and enjoying her last year in Madison. She’s also looking forward to beginning her role as food chair of I.C.E (Israel Cultural Experience).

Elli Smerling, of Deerfield IL, is a senior at the University of Wisconsin majoring in Communications and Jewish Studies. Before coming to the UW Elli took a gap year in Israel on a program through the Conservative movement called Nativ. Last semester Elli spent 5 months in Cape Town, SA. This year she is enjoying serving as President of I.C.E, being the Campus Masa Representative, and DJing at WSUM student radio.

Elli and Amanda met Freshman year over Kosher food at Hillel and truly became friends when they both had Kitchens Junior year. Now as seniors they plan to use this blog to document their last Kosher year in Madison.
